Nairobi, (insidesomalia.org) - The Arab Transitional Parliament Speaker Jassem Mohammed Al-Saqer called upon Islamists in Somalia and the government to respect the peace agreement signed in Djibouti under the supervision of the United Nations.

According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the speaker urged Somalis to productively cooperate with the Arab League and the African Union in putting a stop to all means of armed conflict and to initiate a peace settlement immediately.

"This agreement is an important step towards achieving safety and security in Somalia," he said.

He expressed gratitude to the support given by authorities in Djibouti in hosting the agreement, as well as the UN and African Union who each helped in forming task forces to tackle violence in the African country in addition to providing war-exiled inhabitants with humanitarian aid.

He finally called on the international community to provide aid for Somalia and extend financial support that will help rebuild the infrastructure of the country.
